Life Enrichment Activities Assistant

The Life Enrichment Assistant will assist with planning, implementing, facilitating, and promoting activities to enrich the quality of life for our residents. The primary focus will be on providing programs and events that encourage engagement and socialization throughout our Laurelwood Assisted Living & Laurel Way Memory Care community. Familiarity with Alzheimer’s/ Dementia, is a plus! A love and willingness to work with the elderly population is essential for this role.

Other responsibilities would include, but, not limited to:

  • Assisting in the creation of activities designed to meet the individualized needs of our residents.
  • Create and develop programs that meet the individualized needs of the resident population
  • Brainstorm event and activity ideas with other team members
  • Set up and break down needed materials before and after programs
  • Assist in resident outings
  • Track resident attendance and participation
  • Look for ways to enhance programs. Creativity needed.
  • Provides information to the Director of Life Enrichment regarding the resident engagement to assist with the development of a personalized care plan.

Qualifications:

– High School diploma / GED required

-Ability to inspire, motivate, and encourage engagement of residents in meaningful, purposeful activities throughout the day and evening.
– Previous experience in senior care or a related field is preferred
– Knowledge of recreational therapy techniques and aging issues counseling is a plus
– Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
– Ability to effectively interact with seniors and their families
– Familiarity with dementia care practices is beneficial
– Excellent organizational skills for schedule management

Pay: $16.50hr – $23.50per hour

Expected hours: Varies, Per Diem. As needed to cover vacations, extra coverage for special events.
