Safety Security Officer *Saturday overnight!
Conducts continuous patrols of campus buildings, grounds, residential areas, and parking areas to prevent and detect fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and safety hazards using a key fob system to validate the door was checked
Locks and unlocks facility doors as scheduled. May lock and unlock doors at other times if a legitimate need for access has been established by the requesting party. Maintains familiarity with all areas for which key access is available by security personnel. Maintains security of all keys entrusted to officers and the department.
Observes and investigates, and reports violations of law or facility policies or procedures that disrupt the safety, security, and orderly operation of the Highlands. May take action to see that serious violations are ceased. May be required to pursue and/or detain individuals or take temporary custody of property in accordance with established rules and regulations.
May be required to escort unauthorized personnel from restricted areas of the Highlands or off the grounds entirely. If involved in an incident resulting in arrest, all necessary paperwork will be completed and necessary court appearances by the officer.
Escorts persons to and from all parking areas as requested and residents around the campus as requested.
Investigate reports and follow-ups on security-related incidents, make reports to the Police Department when appropriate.
Documents complaints, and visitor accidents and makes appropriate referrals for corrective action. Responds promptly to all calls.
First responder to all health calls. Actively participates in internal or external disasters according to responsibilities outlined in the appropriate disaster plan. Assist the Fire Department and other agencies that respond from outside the facility. Participates in respective drills of these plans and makes observations for improved response when appropriate. Responsible for assisting in the snow removal from the sidewalks and driveways using shovels and snow blower. Able to salt sidewalks using a manual spreader. Performs a variety of traffic control functions including patrolling and monitoring all parking areas, rerouting traffic as necessary, keeping Fire Lanes accessible, investigating and reporting motor vehicle accidents, and monitoring and reporting snow and icy conditions.
Must have a clean valid NYS Driver’s License and a valid NYS Security License or be willing to obtain one immediately after hire. Call to inquire more.
Pay Range: $17.00hr-$25.50hr.
